leigh Blackall reports on an initiative in New South Wales, requiring all new teachers (in schools) to undergo a minimum of 100 hours training (over 5 years). In addition, they have to keep an online log (aka blog) of their professional training needs. All the courses that they attend will have to be evaluated (online) by the attendees.
It sounds like a good idea, though I can already forsee several potential problems. After all, how often have you just ticked any box in a “feedback” form after a course. I wonder though, if you get to do it online (presumably in your own time, not as rushing for the train), then you might be more reflective, though of course, the danger is procrastinating.
